First, let me introduce my little predator... I got her as a kitten about 12yrs. ago... so she's an old cat (doesn't act like it...or look it), she has always been an outdoor cat who comes and goes as she pleases. Outside she often satisfies her predatory urges by hunting and catching poor helpless animals... most of the time she'll bring it inside and bat it around, and this usually ends up with the poor critter escaping. This spring she has eaten 2 baby bunnies on the back porch and brought one inside... she has a history of birds, squirrels, and bunnies... (the freak lets my rats sleep on her though and she cleans them like kittens... or maybe she's aquiring a taste  )
Well tonight I heard some things falling and scuffling... the cat was going bonkers and I knew why... I locked her in the bathroom but had no luck finding the animal so I let her out, knowing she'd lead me right to it. She went behind the couch, so I knew it was back there. I ended up pulling out the couch to set it free and hopefully the cat would help in the catch (I was prepared to free the bunny from her claws of death  ) Out it comes... a friggin' huge rabbit 3/4's her size (mind you she captured this thing and dragged it inside) comes running out around my living room like a BB in a beer can. Eventually the rabbit outsmarted the cat and hightailed it into the bathroom, where I slammed the door shut in front of the cat and covered it up with a towel.
The rabbit was completely still and in shock I am sure, when I knew she was calm, I covered her head, and carefully secured her to check her over and make sure she wasn't beat up too bad. She had 2 small chunks taken out of her near her hindlegs... I figured I should clean it up before releasing her... so I diluted peroxide and cleaned her up... she flinched a bit but stayed calm for the most part. After snapping some pictures I took her back outside... as soon as she realised where she was she tried so hard to wriggle out of the towel to get away from me! She stopped for a second when I put her down with that "how the **** did I escape that!?" look and hightailed it out of there.
For now the cat is cooped up in the house, she must think I let it go in the house because she is going nuts trying to find it as we speak. Just thought i'd share, I will try and post those pictures soon... they're just a pain to get off my cellphone.
