I have asked the Midwest company to consider making deeper trays for the Ferret nation cages and the coming Critter Nation ones that will contain bedding like shavings and Carefresh. The current trays that come with the cage are not deep enough. If you are looking for this as well, please let them know and hopefully we get these made.
Has anyone solved this issue already and how? I was thinking of having them custom made from formica or something.
I prefer my rats to be on a deeper tray with bedding material instead of the hassle with fleece. They chew it, pee on it and crawl under it. Must be fun for them though....

rats will destroy/have fun with anything you give them. litter will be thrown everywhere, even with 3" deep trays, i am sure. fleece gets chewed up and nested in. paper gets rooted around in, etc. there is nothing safe! :( i found mozart nesting in my printer a couple weeks ago. thanks, a-hole. but you know how it goes. :( got to still love them...

I agree with OnlyOno. We have a cage with a very deep tray and the rats just carry the bedding up to the shelves and toss it off from up there!
