I have an elderly Male that may have had a minor stroke and is being given Metacam on a long term.
Is there a better choice I can request for inflammation?
I don't trust NSAID's and want to use something easier on the old boy.

if he had a stroke, then you need steroids NOT metacam. And you won't need it long term either.

For 4 days he won't move his right arm, keeps it tucked up close to body.
We thought at first an injury but now it looks like a mild stroke.
What should I be doing for him?

Does the leg look abnormal in any way (swelling, redness, visible injuries)? Soft tissue injury is a possibility and the Metacam would help with both the inflammation and pain.

You say now it looks like he has had a stroke... Is he having any other symptoms?

We're pretty sure its a stroke. But he's starting to use it a bit and the Vet believes its going to make a comeback.
