I have found a vet close to my house that treats rats and I was thinking about bringing my boys but I just wanted to get everyone's thoughts on the subject. I do not think that they have ever been to a vet before and I am not sure it is absolutely necessary. (I think the price of a check up for one rat was $53.)

I just wanted to get everyone's thoughts. My boys seem healthy but do they need regular check ups? Is that a good price?

Not necessarily Regular check ups but an ice breaker now can't hurt (never too early to build rapport with your vet). $50 give or take is what gets charged in Aus, every vet I've been to has been willing to see more than one rat for the price of one (another reason to start building up that rapport).
