So yesterday, my boyfriend got us four chickens to add to our collection of animals. They lay their eggs in a converted rabbit hutch, the pen has a fully functioning gate and no way could that poor bunny have got its way into there on its own! He comes home, checks the pen for eggs and finds a rabbit in the hutch :-( so, we are now removing the hutch from the pen and creating a new one for the chickens! Can't believe anyone would have the heart to throw this bunny away.... When I return home tomorrow I will take it to the vets to be sexed, I'm worried it could be a pregnant female someone has dumped! Time will tell....
I'm not sure how old he is honestly.
His story is kind of sad. One of my friends/former coworker from petsmart posted his picture on facebook saying he needed a home.
He was abandoned at her store.. Someone put him in a "critter keeper" and left him in a shopping cart OUTSIDE, in 35 degree weather
He was brought inside and warmed up and my friend took him home, and tried to find him a home.
I fell in love just from seeing his pictures, I got him on March 17th.
and while he was a little pokey and shy at first. after a few minutes in my hands he got out of his ball and started walking around on my arms.
And cuddling in my jacket. He is a such a sweet boy.
I feel so lucky to have him as a pet.
And I absolutely adore him. I don't see how anyone could abandon such a cutie.

Spike LOVES to run in his wheel, and loves to nap and eat melons (watermelon/honeydew/cantalope)

Lets just say she's had to many near death experiences (if your interested in hearing them feel free to ask) anyway our ducks are in season ATM and want to.... With everything anywAy our youngest male duck nemo happened to grab LC (she's half blind) and managed to drag her into the pond! Luckily I was in the sun lounge with the door open and heard the splash if water, I ran outside and he had her under water! I took him off her and grabbed her in my arms and ran inside luckily she's not in to much shock but gets to share my bed tonight and maybe forever now! I fell in love with her the first told I saw her sues the silliest most amazing chicken I've ever come across! She's like a dog, when I'm cooking I have our mastiff at one side of me begging for food and LC at the other, I really adore this little lady,
Here she is ATM

I'm a Pit Bull (APBT) fancier.. I currently do not own any. But I still work to educate and do what I can for the breed.

Just wondering if there are any others on here, or anyone who has any questions or thoughts they'd like to share. I'll share photos of my old mutts a little later.

Some of you may have seen my "some people" thread about the boy trying to swap me his rabbit for one of my rats and £20, and how angry I was about it,
Anyway I carried on my search for a rabbit and got in touch with the RSPCA, me and my mother in law went to their foster homes and managed to find these two gorgeous rabbits, one male and one female,
Henry is the male and bracken is the female, they are the most darling rabbits in the world! Considering their bad past they have so much love to give anyway

Here's bracken <a href="http://www.ratforum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=41010" title="Name:
I'm so happy I'm able to give these two gorgeous rabbits a good home now, although I've just been told to stop my mission for rescuing more mistreated animals is not over! Haha!

I think I want to own every small rodent there is. I definitely prefer rats and mice to gerbils, guinea pigs, and hamsters (am I missing anything?) but I've been thinking that when my rat population starts to decrease instead of continually adding more and more I might start to keep a smaller number and expand a little to see how I feel about gerbils and different breeds of hamsters.... they're just so irresistibly cute! I don't know.... do any of you keep a large variety of rodents? What is it like? I know you get different things from each species (and most hamsters should be kept alone?) but I didn't know if anyone had experience with keeping a bunch of different species at the same time. I'd definitely need to make sure I had enough time to give them all the attention and care they needed, and this won't be any time soon because I plan on my gals having long, long lives (please?) but every time I read about/see gerbils and hamsters I think... man, one day it would be cool.

Hi all,
I have a housemate and she has a white rabbit he's adorable and so fluffy.
The thing is she does not care about him at all!
I went out there yesterday and his water bottle was on the floor empty and no food.
I picked up the bottle and filled it up and as soon as it went in his cage he slurped for a good five minutes , he must of been soooo thirsty!!
Today i went out and i saw where she keeps his food and i got a few handfuls and put them in the cage and he chomped them all down like he had never seen food before!!

She is not the easiest person to talk to.. eg. if i raise this issue about her treating her rabbit horribly she will tell me its not my problem and i should not of been out near her rabbit anyway!

It's not that hard to ensure he has water and food if that's all she's going to do! he's so cute and should get cuddles but i wouldn't dare get him out in case she caught me.

I don't know what to do,I know its not my fault he's like that but I feel so sorry for him and I don't want him to sit in his (TINY btw) cage and just fade away in pain because she isnt giving him any attention at all!!

I honestly wonder how long he had gone without water and food! The basic necessities !

???:(

I rescued 4 mice (a PEW Angora male, a PEW female, a PEW Cream Banded female, and a Longhair Black and White female not sure if she is considered...

I rescued 4 mice (a PEW Angora male, a PEW female, a PEW Cream Banded female, and a Longhair Black and White female not sure if she is considered banded because her band is super wide) from a horrible feeder breeder situation and the black and white one had 7 babies last night. I only just noticed she was pregnant like 5 days ago so I was super surprised to see babies in there this morning! I went to pick her up and heard a squeak and I thought I might have hurt her or something but when I picked up my hand I saw a pink squirming thing and I was like OMG she had her babies! I have never had pet mice babies before and it is so exciting! Here are some pictures of the babies I didn't take to many because I didn't want to handle them to much, just enough to see they all had milk bands. The pic of the angora mouse is the Dad (he was the only male in the cage when I rescued them) and the black and white one is the Mom. The babies all have black eyes except for the one on the end which I'm guessing is a PEW because the others also look like they might have some pigment and he/she doesn't.

My best friend decided to keep a giant house spider ages ago and he fed it crickets and tried to get it as big as he could..it got massive and it looked fun to keep such an awesome pet so i found a young one of my own (making sure it was a giant house spider and not just a normal one) and i keep her in a tub that my first baby snake came in.
She's so awesome to look at and she has settled in nicely to her box. There's webbing about too for finding the pray i drop in for her.
I get crickets for my dragon and usually they come with these little beetles and caterpillars and that's what i've been feeding her and also i gave her a maggot today.
I don't know what it is but i think spiders are just so awesome. Not so much tarantulas though, i think the ones that spin webs are the best. They are pretty easy to look after too, only needing to be fed every few days to a week.
She's a little bigger now but here's a picture of how pretty she is.

Thought it was about time you all met the rest of my gang ;D

First up is 'Travis' or 'Trav' as we more commonly call him [yes yes he has a human name ] he is my baby boy...hes a 2yr old Cairn-Russell terrier.

Next is 'Maile' [pronounced My-lee] she is 7-9yrs old...we aren't 100% sure. I found her wandering the streets, she was skin & bones with huge talons for claws...a terrified mess. I was going to look for her owner, but the vet said she had been bred over & over & looked like whoever had her before kept her confined. Guessing because she is a teacup Chihuahua [shes like 3-4lbs] & those can go for big bucks, she was used as a puppy machine & then tossed when she couldn't breed anymore...so I forgot the search for her owner & she is now safe with me. Her & Trav are BFFs [hes fixed by the way].

This is 'Alien' my earless kitty...I believe I've brought her up a couple times before. Shes 7 & I adopted her from the local shelter. She was a pregnant mama that got brought in by her old owner...wasn't much info on the owner, but she was kept as an outside cat & being white she got skin cancer & had to have her ears removed. Shes pretty unique ;D it was instant love when I saw her.

This is my recent rescue 'Spartacus' the Bearded Dragon he was basically just neglected & I took him in...theres a thread on here somewhere. Hes doing great & is my fiance's shoulder buddy.

My Corn Snakes, Jekyll & Hyde. They are yearlings...Jekyll is the Snow & Hyde is the 'unknown' morph...we think he could be a Blood.

Then theres 'Stubz' my Leopard Gecko...named because when I got him he had no tail, just a stub...its since grown back nicely. He was a pity buy from Petsmart...I believe he is a 'high yellow' morph. Hes a cutie, but oddly grumpy for a Leo lol.

Finally...since I can't put EVERY pic of them on here, here is one of our tarantulas lol we have too many to post a pic of all of them.

Also have a Betta fish, but hes camera shy

I wanted to share pictures of my degus now that they are healthier than when I got them. :)

I "rescued" Khuno and his friend Kuzco from a pet store. They had somehow acquired them and were planning to keep them and breed them. However, after a few months passed and now pups showed up, they decided to sell them. I bought them before anyone had the chance to separate the pair. It turns out, that they're both males! No wonder the pet store wasn't having any success breeding them. ;) Sadly, they did no research about how to care for degus either. They fed the boys rabbit food and a seed mix with very little hay... Even though I went in the pet store many times and gave them advice on degus care... When Kuzco first came to that pet store he didn't have cataracts in his eyes.... When I got him the cataracts were much worse than they are in the picture. I began feeding them on the proper no sugar diet right away (degus can very easily get diabetes if they are not fed on the proper food), and it looks like its paid off!

I decided on Incan names for them both since they come from Chile. Cusco is the capital of the Incan Empire. I decided to go with the "Kuzco" spelling because it was used on The Emperor's New Groove movie and it goes better with Khuno. Khuno's name is the Incan god of high altitude weather.

Here are Kuzco and Khuno together. Kuzco is the one in front with the cataracts and Khuno is the one hiding in the back. Kuzco is very sweet and curious. He enjoys being held and snatching food from me. Khuno is very shy and easily frightened. He will take food from me, but usually wheeps (an alarm call to warn others of danger) at me if I try to get near him.

Here is Kuzco alone.

And here is the best picture I could get of Khuno.

Unfortunately they are currently living in the bottom half of my double critter nation since I got them so spur of the moment. The rats are very unhappy that they only have the top half of the cage (they used to have the whole cage) and have been having "pee wars" with the degus. As soon as I move in June I'm going to be building the degus a new cage out of wood.
(I'm using this website as a guide for what I want to make... http://octodondegus.weebly.com/how-t...degu-cage.html )

For now they seem content in the critter nation... even though it is rather small for their climbing and burrowing needs... They have chewed most of the bottom pan so I had to order metal pans, but I have to wait two more weeks for the paint to cure before I put them in the cage. I just hope the rest of the plastic pan holds out until I can put in the metal pans.

She's quite the character. She loves to run around and she likes to jump around a lot too. She's silly. She will climb out of her cage and crawl around but if you make the slightest noise she'll run back to her cage then pop back out like nothing happened. She loooves belly rubs and scratches behind the ear. She isn't quite to where I can hold her yet because she's just not ready to be held. The first day she would let me hold her but I think she was just kind of in shock from all the excitement of a new home. She will climb on me and climb onto my shoulder and stuff though. :) She's really sweet.

Here she is on the first day we got her. :) She does not fit in that little house anymore. Haha. She's grown quite a bit. :D I'm currently working on finding a good, big cage for her so she'll have plenty of room to jump and play. :)
