I just had a few questions about the whole potty stuff.  Our two rats are 5-6 weeks old. We have a bin cage (plastic storage bin for the bottom and then the wire cage part). I have bedding (Comfort something I think) down in the bottom in the plastic bin and then on the 3 levels I have towels down as well as fleece hammocks hanging.  I haven't really noticed any pee or wets spots on the towels or fleece.  I clean up the "raisins" everday and throw them down in the bottom of the cage where the bedding is.  Are girls just cleaner and don't mark the entire cage?  Do they not pee as much when they are younger?  Should I get an additional pan to put bedding in on one of the levels or is the bottom part ok to be the "potty area"??

Thanks

Sounds like you are doing well. The key here is that they get used to poo and pee in the bedding, not on towels or other fabric. Eventually you make the bedding section smaller and smaller until it is a litter box.
Girls mark with tiny droplets, hardly noticeable unless you feel it on your skin.
I have four females over a year old and only the last few months are they consistent in pooping in their litter box. Peeing is another story; where ever they feel like it. But during free ranging they are completely house broken as they can come and go in and out their cage. Smiley. In the beginning I had litter boxes on the floor when they were roaming around and gradually took them away until they would go back in their cage to poo or pee.
