Hi! My name is Brook. I am 29 and live in Bremerton, WA. I have loved rats from the first time I owned one. I was 4 years old and he was an albino male named Bernard. I've owned many pet rats since then, but recently had to go without for a little over a year. I am happy to say I will be getting 3 females soon; have to find a good cage first. I will post pictures when I get them.

I also own and breed African soft fur rats, but they don't compare to owning pet rats.

My other family members include a boyfriend, my 8 year old daughter, our 4 dogs, 2 cats, 3 lizards, 17 snakes, and other random bugs/arachnids. Anyway, I'm so glad I found this forum and look forward to sharing experiences with you all.  Wink  Smiley

Yeah. I usually get a lot of flack from other rat lovers since I own snakes. I constantly get accused of feeding pet rats to my snakes. I only get frozen rats from LLL Reptile, RodentPro, and a local breeder. I even make sure they've been humanely euthanized and not thrown in a freezer to die a slow and painful death.

I've had my love for rats 13 years longer than my love for reptiles. I am rescuing 2 rats from being feeders at my local breeder's house and will be taking in one of many pet rats from owners who cannot keep them anymore. I'm picking this cage up http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2753352 on the 15th and then I can get my rats. Wish me luck!
