Has had anyone had any problems with mice? I saw a mouse today and it was climbing up the cage-- I shooed it down with a broom- and put traps down. but it climbed up a couple of times- but it couldn't get in. I was just wondering if anyone else had problems with mice, and arn't rats predators to mice-- rats don't attract mice do they?

I always thought that food attracts mice We have had mouse problems even before we had rats so what is going on?

I just went downstairs and we caught two mice-- ugh-- Does anyone know of a place we can keep the food- I mean all of their dry food is kept in containers that are sealed tight- where does everyone keep there food? I mean their fresh fruits and veggies are kept in the fridge until I feed them at night.

It might be the rats food that attracted the mouse? I dunno, because yes rats are predatory to mice. 0_0 Maybe it's just one desperate mouse?

The only mice that cause me problems live in cages and live pampered little lives! All jokes aside, I don't have problems with mice as much as voles. Luckily they pretty much rampage only in my shed. If they get too bad, I will be setting up my live traps!

Generally mice come inside in search of two things- food and shelter. You're offering food if you have anything accessable to them, and I don't mean trash lying around or food left out. Anything they can chew to get to is accessable. But- usually if they have to work for it, they'll go for easier food, which is normally found out of doors.

Shelter, well, that's another thing. Depending on where you live, the weather could be driving them to seek out the safety and warmth (or cool) of your walls. We normally get mice in fall and early winter, as they're hunting for a cozy place to avoid snow. This time of year... It could be drought or rain driving them in. Or it could be a family has just discovered your house is a convenient place to hang out. Maybe they're just jealous of their cousins the rats, with their spacious cages and two-legged servants. ;-)

In any case, give the traps time to work. I use live traps from Walmart, they cost about 2.69 I think. The mouse noses the trap door open to get to the yummy peanut butter, the door falls shut behind him... and I take him out to the back field in the morning and dump him out in the woods where he belongs. (hubby had a theory that they were beating me back to the house, so I started marking their tails with a Sharpie. So far, no polka-dotted mice have shown back up in the trap. But they could be smart enough to clean it off before coming back for another free ride complete with peanut butter snack.)

    Good luck!

I had one daring mouse that got into my rat cage and stole food. I wanted to catch him and keep him as a pet, but Possom exscaped and scared him away before I could =(
