Why is keeping rats a "crazy obsession"? I think of them like any of my other pets.

I can see the opening sequence now, with the typical smoker's voice of a 6 ft tall very very serious man narrating the program. "Rats," he says, as the imagery of sewer rats and rats digging through the garbage consume the screen, "A creature most of us associate with filth, an animal known to infest homes, a disease carrier seen in the nightmares of small children...! Get ready to meet someone who sees the animals in a different light, you could say it's her...strange obsession." These shows aren't reality, most of them put straight emphasis on shock factor and telling people what they want to hear. But I could be wrong, I've never seen this specific show before. I just know in most circumstances, this would be the norm. :P

I'd do it, if only to show the world how smart and adorable they are. Except I don't think they'd take me because I only have 2 rats lol.

Had to delete my pretty babies because the admins are whiny about size and I can't be bothered to resize it.

I think it may be in regards to that rat hoarding case that broke a while back.

Yeah, if you've ever watched the show you'll know that they'll edit the heck out of the segment to make you look as unhealthy and crazy as possible. I'm a psychologist and I find this type of exploitation deplorable.

    I second this statement.

I went to the website and watched clips. Sure those people have "weird" interests, but I bet at least 99% of the people are made out to be crazier than they actually are. I thought some of the things those people "obsess" about were actually pretty cool!

There was a news segment on a woman who had rats (all white lab rats, I believe) and she was made out to be completely crazy... Though, she did do strange things with her rats. Anyways, it'd be cool to use this show as a chance to show the world what wonderful pets they are, but they'll probably edit it and only show the stranger things we do with our babies (or at least make things look strange).

This is an old post. The series came and left. I guess they did not find enough obsessions.
