Default Fun stuff for the cage..?

I've just upgraded my ratties' cage and am looking for ideas for fun stuff to fill it with! With it being so big it just looks a bit bare and boring at the moment.. I've got a hammock in there for them but it's getting a bit small for them now; whenever they're in it together one of them always falls out after a while! So I'm in the process of making them a bigger one. And then other than that I've just got a dog's rope pull toy thing, a pine cone and a few toilet roll tubes.. I'm gonna put a box of tissues in there too which I've heard is a lot of fun! But I'm looking for more fun stuff to put in there!

Anyone got any ideas..? Preferably either stuff that's not too expensive or can be homemade, as money's a bit tight at the moment!

Photos of your toys/accessories would be greatly appreciated!

First of all, go to dapperrat.au! They have millions upon billions of ideas to deck out a cage! Second a pumice bird perch is my absolute fav cage accessorie! (It's the blue thing in the photo) My boys used to have the sharpest claws in the universe, but that thing is a miracle worker! I can now let my boys sit on my shoulder without their claws digging into my skin I put mine in a place so that they have to climb on it if they want to get to their food bowl.

My boys love having beds to lounge around in, and I got them this wicker nest ball that they can't get enough of! I also got them a log made for reptile terrariums, and they enjoy playing with and climbing it. They have one of those hanging toys with the colorful, flavored fruit wood chews and a bell, but they completely ignore it.

One really smart investment, I found, is a cage-mounted feeding dish. I have it mounted so that they just stand up a bit to get food, but it completely eliminated any issue with sitting in the food dish, which my guys liked to do! :P

Hey fluffy470, how do you clean the pumice perch? I used to have lava landings but the pee smell got unbearable! My boys are pretty neat but they dribble everywhere.

I don't have Lava Landings, but I have Lava Ledges, which is sort of the same thing. I just scrub it with water and sometimes gentle soap, then I just rinse it off really well.

Ohh yea, Lava Ledges is what I had too lol You must have very neat ratties! I had the same problem with the brick i put in their cage. I'm gonna try to figure out some kind of brick staircase for out time. (then it wont get so stinky)
