Is she sick?!

Hey guys. For the past few days my little Miley has been sneezing. Not non stop but every few minutes. I've been carefully watching her and she is still playful and eats the amount she usually does. Also there's no dicharge around her eyes or nose. Can she be sick? Should I take her to the vet just in case? I'll appreciate all advice as this is my first rat. Thank ya'll. It could be an allergy to something like her bedding or even purfume, air fresheners anything like that they have sensitive little noses. One of mine recently kept sneezing and i worked out it was the aur freshener i was using. But keep a close eye on it

How long have you had her? What type of bedding are you using? I have come too believe lone rats tend to get sick easily from the stress and depression of not having a friend. When Peanut was a lone rat (I was trying too find the the right cagemate for him at the time) always got sick with URIs when we finally got his cagemate Lina he became healthier and we haven't had a,problem with him since. I maybe wrong and some may tend too argue with me on it,but they do live longer and happier lives with one.

She usually starts sneezing when I take her out of her cage and usually when I walk around I put her on my shoulder or in my pocket. Maybe she's allergic to the perfume on my clothes? We don't use any air-fresheners in our house so it wouldn't be that. I'll keep my eye on her and if it gets any worse or she'll stop eating I'll take her to the vet.

For her bedding I use ripped up newspapers and I have a few pieces of fleece that she sleeps on. I've had her for about a month now. I'm thinking about getting a friend for her but I don't think she is lonely because I spend more than six hours with her everyday.

Rats have companions too help groom,snuggle,wrestle,play,eat and roll around with. As humans we cannot do these things and I have seen lone rats die within a year. I am not outing you keeping are as lone,but I am just giving you advice on why its important. They live much healthier lives with a friend,but again it is your choice.

I should have read this first, I try too refrain any perfumes and so on when handling them. They breathe it in through their noses and since their noses are so small it's like dunking your hold head inside a perfume bottle for them. I would not where anything and see how she does

Could be your perfume, hair product, etc if you only notice it when youre handling her. If you notice it when she's not on your person, Id consider taking her in. Agree with Ratz, if she has a buddy she'll lead a much healthier, rich life....and you get another fuzzy to love on! Win, win.

I'll take her to the vet as soon as I find one that treats rats. There's a vetinary hospital right across the street so I'll go down today and ask if they treat them. I'll also talk to my dad about getting a friend for Miley. And if I am getting one what would be the best way to get them used to eachother? And should I get a male or female? thanks for the advice. I appreciate it alot
