    Default Heat Lamps?

I went to the vet to have one of my girls checked for a URI, and the doctor ended up recommending a heat lamp? I really didn't realize this was a necessary item for rats. Do any of you have one? If so, what do you recommend and why?

i wouldn't use heat lamps, rats cope better with the cold than the hot and can be in danger of overheating if they can't avoid the heat. If your girl is poorly and needs help keeping warm extra bedding and cage mates are better. In emergency situations a heat mat under one side of the cage (so they can move away from it if needed) is a better solution
