would my 3 males and 2 females live in harmony? if i had a big enough cage, also would it be better for me to have the females spayed if i wanted to do this , im more than happy to keep themseperate , just ive seen an amazing cage that could hold 8

If it has multiple levels it would be way cheaper to just completely close off half of it for one gender, and the other half for the other gender.

If you want them to all live together, I suggest you get the males neutered. That will cut out any aggression.

the males being neutered is cheaper and is does lessen the aggression but health wise the females will benifit more. their risk for cancer will drop from 75% to 5%. my vet and i are currently looking into a possbile different diet for rats without estragen production. so far we haven't come across anything that says female rats are harmed by estrogen definicy but we're still looking.

but if you want to put the males and females together then you have to get one gender or the other fixed. otherwise there will be many, many babies and finding good homes for them is difficult.

if you do get a gender fixed make sure you shop around for the right vet. each vet will have a different price and different amount of experience.
