but why does gender matter? does it really make that big a difference to be called he when you're a she or she when you're a he. what difference does it make. no one knows through typing that you are a he or a she and as this is not a dating service i just don't see the point.

I agree. Gender does not matter to me.

Yes, I may accidently say 'she said' when I'm speaking about a male, but everyone on the internet ought to realize that we can't see through the computer to tell gender.
