Hi,

My alpha rat is starting to get really territorial after we upgraded to a double critter nation. He is territorial sometimes in-cage but aggressively territorial during free-range.

I don’t want to neuter him as he isn’t attacking other rats, only aggressive & fluffy when he feels another rat is being disrespectful.

He has always been a superb alpha - calm & confident. However I feel he is more rattled since the expansion of his home.

I do not want to neuter him as he is such a good alpha historically. I plan on reducing the size of free-range.

Looking for advice and input on how to manage this situation.

He never bites another rat, no blood has been drawn. He only sidle with an occasional kick and hiss.

Thank you all.

P.S. mischief size is 6 including alpha

He may be unsettled with his new quarters, and being an alpha he may be a little physical for a while. The fact that he isn't really violent and drawing blood is very positive. Give him time and space to work things out. No need for anything extreme!

Thanks! been smoothing him down when I see him being silly. I think I'm going to do some 1 on 1 training sessions with him so he feels more confident and in control of the free range area.
