I use Oxbow Regal Rat and Reggie Rat Food, but the only part of the Reggie Rat that is eaten is the pellets, mostly. Do I really need to keep the seed mix? And if I don't, is their something else I should add to make their diet more balanced?

Thanks. :)

It's quite surprising that they don't eat the seed mix lol. Rather than seeds, I add dried fruits and whole grain cereals (as well as fresh veggies). I use seeds as a treat mostly by sprinkling them on the floor and letting my rats "forage".

oxbow is balanced all in of itself.

Seed mixes are not great at all actually. They are often full of junk that is not fit for rats daily diet and seeds are too high in fat for them to have daily. Also most rats will pick through the mix and only eat what they like and not eat the rest- so they aren't getting any type of balance there and it is a waste of money and food.

I would get rid of the seed mix.

Only feed the oxbow as their diet base. Then give fresh veggies daily. And treats in moderation.
