I have read quite a few times now that many of you feed your ratties baby food

just wondering

Whats the reason for feeding baby food
How much should they have
What type of baby food (sweet/savary)
What nutritional benifits does it have for ratties

Wondering if it would help my girls as they are really small for there age

my rats love a lot of the baby food varieties. their favourite is sweet corn/pumpkin mix, i've never actually given them any of the desserts as yet.

they don't have it each day although i'm sure they could manage it!
i'm unsure just how good[or otherwise] baby food is for rats, but as its made for babies i would imagine it couldn't do much harm.

sometimes its handy to disguise any medication as well.

I have dried baby cereal that I use to thicken up wet foods so that they don't get a runny stool

it is also really funny to see them dive into a bowl of the dry cereal on its own because they can't grab it & greedily run off with it.

Baby foods tend to be richer in nutrients since the serving size is so small... you can offer a concentrated amount in the smaller servings. Also baby foods tend to be made from very high quality ingredients... many brands have gone organic
