baby rat age + no appetite?

it's been quite a while since my last post here, whew.

regardless, i brought home a new little guy today that will eventually bunk with Milo and Cosmo and while he's stolen my heart, i have a few concerns.

first off - he doesn't seem to have an appetite, or desire to drink water. i've offered him water in a bottle and even a tray (though the woman said he can drink from a bottle, in the brief words we exchanged) but he's backed off uninterested. i was concerned enough to dab a bit on his mouth/chin, which he's now grooming off, but this is the first i've seen him drink since bringing him home around 5 today. also, he isn't eating despite being offered yogurt, treats, Oxbow blocks, and even some cat food. i have no idea what the woman fed them on and she didn't happen to mention.

is this.. normal? i feel like he may be grieving a bit for the loss of his littermates, but it's still too soon to introduce him to my guys. is there anything i can do to help him settle in? any recommendations on what to try to get him to chow down? he also seems far more comfortable out of his cage with me than in it, so i'm going to try and tempt him to eat out here and see if i'll have any luck with that..

and would anyone happen to have an estimate on his age? i was told he was born on December 17th, but gosh, he's so tiny. though this could just be me totally inexperienced with babies though, my boys were all brought home when they were about 6 months and up haha

thank you for any help!

he was from a litter advertised on Facebook, and honestly it seemed like a bit of a shady affair, but i didn't have the heart to back off once i saw met and saw how small he was in person. i'm going to try to shoot her a text tomorrow about what he was fed and see if she'll respond.
i'll have to pick up some baby foods tomorrow for him, thanks for the idea :) i haven't tried any fruits/veggies yet but it's worth a shot, i'll go see what we have.

Alas make sure the temperature if the room he is in is at least 70F and that he has some extra bedding material like fleece or towel paper to keep him warm since he is so tiny and alone in his cage. It is a very good sign that he ate something, he was probably just acluttle scare by all the new sounds and smells:)

oh yes, the house is kept around 73F and he has fleece to burrow in so he's good to go there!

his appetite is back today and i've caught him drinking, so i'm no longer worried about that :) i just jumped the gun a little, i've never had a rat not eat for nearly 8 hours, even if they were just brought home so i was a bit worried haha
