Well that's cool! I'm not religious in the least but it is pretty sweet what they're doing :D

It usually goes in conjunction with a celebration of St. Francis, patron saint of animals. :) I'm not particularly religious, but my grandmother died on the 4th and her grave has a beautiful mosaic of St. Francis and the animals on it.

Ah yes, St. Francis the patron saint of animals. A lot of churches around here offer a special blessing day for pets in his honor. A monk does a blessing at Milwaukee Pugfest every year. I remember the monk was kind enough to bless the ashes of Julie (my deceased Pug) at Pugfest one year. It meant a lot to me. :)
