My rat, Quitela, recently bled from the anus last night. I gave him some greens, like broccoli and spinach. He wouldnt really eat it. I took him out today, and he felt like he was dead (He is alive.) Hes squishy, he wont eat and is breathing kinda loud. It sounds like wheezing almost. I made him a rehydration formula, I am keeping him warm. I can’t go to the vet because we dont have enough money. Is there anything i can do at this point? Someone please help, I’m scared hes losing blood! He is not bleeding right now. But I am still worried.

Hi there.
It sounds like he is in distress, particularly with the loud breathing.
I know this might sound hard to hear, but some vets or rescues will agree to euthanise an animal that is suffering if you can't pay. Or they might let you pay the bill off.

I've heard spinach isn't good to give to rats. I use this website as a guide A List of Safe and Dangerous Foods for Your Pet Rat. If you usually feed your rats spinach that could be the issue but since he didn't eat it this probably isn't the case. I think you're already taking great steps with the rehydration and keeping him warm. I don't have much else advice to give, the vet seems best. I hope Quitela makes it through the night.

I have never really gave him spinach, but i looked on rat shack that you can give them spinach. I only gave him two little pieces just to be safe. He still wont really drink, well he kinda did but he struggled a little bit. He wont really eat tho still.. hes comfy tho, i know that for sure. Hes laying on my lap.
