I've got two hairless boys and they are both thoroughly spoilt, they have a huge cage about a meter high which the cage calculator says can take up to 5 happily.

My trouble is that I think I have turned them into brats, they get everything they want, a constant supply of a nuitritionally balanced varied diet, natural mineral water refreshed twice a day, all the toys, a wooden log cabin each, you name it, its in that huge cage!

They both seem very happy so its pleasing but I'd love to cuddle them and play with them more, but its so difficult to pick them up unless they are half asleep. They dont mind being handled and often brusk when being cuddled but I usually give up trying to get them out of the cage because they "flip out" when trying to initially pick them up.

I've tried tricking them with treats and tunnels to get them out but it never lasts long and they soon realise my overall plan in time!! They've never bitten me and will lick my fingers should I put them in the cage, I pick them up by scooping, and follow all the guides but still they run!! HELP!!

Once you've gotten them out of the cage try putting them down on the table and picking them up, cuddling a bit and putting them back down. Repeat as many times as you feel like. Try doing this often.

My boys have their days where they just don't feel like getting picked up, but all of them have gotten used to the various methods (scooping up with one or two hands, or the picking up from on top method, which can scare them more at first).

I did try this once, but the more I picked them up the more they got annoyed, this is what I mean about them being brats, they normally get what they want!

They're only spoiled if you let them be spoiled.

When I first got my boys, they were totally spoiled too. I didn't know what to do about it, so I just basically didn't give them as much. I don't think that affected them in anyway though.
To make my boys used to me, I brought them to a bed/lounge where there's absolutely nothing to do. This then makes you the center of attention and they would usually come up to you and sniff you. Soon enough they should be climbing all over you .. (thats what my boys did anyway:) )
Hopefully this might off helped you get started, but if not .. I tried!

OK Cheers guys,
I wonder if it could be something to do with thier bad eyesight, they will happily climb on me if we're on the bed together but its still getting over the initial fear that they need to sort out.

Hopefully in time, they will learn that a big blur coming into the room is safe and not to worry!

I really dont know what to do, one of them is fine, a little edgy but he licks my fingers and happily walks all over me.

The other one, whom I might mention is the least dominitive out of the pair is completely fine once in his cage, but outside of it, he's a nervous wreck unless there is absolutely no movement or noise around him.

I am completely uncapable of picking him up, even if I approach him with my hands flat on the bed which he's standing on about 1mm every minute towards him, he'll start moaning about it.

I have to lay a tube near him and wait until he explores into it (all this while being still and quiet so not to scare him) just to get him back to his cage. I managed to get hold of him once to try forced socialisation but he just moaned and moaned and every time I let my grip go ever so slightly he'd jump into the air in any direction like I was made out of fire or something!

I'm so gentle and patient with this guy but I'm starting to want to give him away, I love him still but he's such a pain!!!

My sebestian was like that for the longest time he was only ever happy in my hood!! Now he is a punk and all i did was treat him the same as i treated my other rats. He loves coming out and even tries to escape now. if you hold a rat for more than twenty minutes they can't hold their fear that long so you make him stay with you or on you for that long then start petting him and what not. I wouldn't give up on him just yet.
