Is it safe to use driftwood for rats? I've baked it before to use in a snake cage, so I could bake it to get rid of anything living in it. I was wondering if it was safe for them to chew on.
i'm really not sure about teh driftwood. its been water bound for a while and is very old dead wood... i don't know if it would still have any of the harmful phenols if it was pine or cedar... i'm just not sure exactl how that works. perhaps do a search on woods and phenols? i'd get more information on how those work before trying driftwood unless i could tell for sure it wasn't pine or cedar and i'm just not familar enough with all the different types of woods and its curing to be able to really tell the difference between say pine or aspen.... perhaps someone else wood be of better help
