I was wondering about breeding rats. I want to breed one of my rats with a male but not sure how to go about it I haven't picked out a male yet I want to get everything I need before hand. Any suggestions would help a lot. Thanks in advance?

If you aren't sure how to go about it in the first place I would NOT do it at all. More than likely you have a pet-store rat with, no offense at all, not so great genetics as they came from a feeder-based environment. If you're after cute little babies than I just suggest getting a pair of same-sex pups from a breeder near you or keep an eye out on online postings of litters. Breeding, or having a litter in general, is a lot more work and responsibility than most are capable of managing.

Breeding requires understanding of genetics, knowing/identifying health issues, VET BILLS, takes time (YEARS to develop stable/worthy lines) etc.
