Of our 3 rats, Boris has the roughest grooming practice with us. He has never drawn blood on me or the Mrs, even when he has mistaken my finger for food. (Lucky me, look at those incisors!) He is just hard enough that we are watchful, and we say "squeak sqeak" or ouch! when he comes on too hard. I am assuming that we are giving him the appropriate feedback?

Barbering is not a problem at this point between our rats.

That's the right response. He may be easily excited or smell food-like odors on your fingers. If he's not drawing blood he's not trying to hurt you. :)

Squeeking is the right thing to do. As Forensic said your fingers might have food odors on them. Ya if hes not drawing blood then hes not trying to hurt you.
