The bar spacing looks too big for a rat. Rats are pretty adept at squeezing through what you might think is too small for them to fit. That cage is more for chinchillas and ferrets and other larger critters. You could wrap hardware cloth around the outside of the cage to prevent escapes but then it becomes sort of an eyesore to look at every day.

This one looks ok: PawHut-Rolling-Chinchilla-Platform-Removable

It looks like Amazon Canada has the popular Critter Nation available in both the single and double versions: MidWest-Critter-162 It's a lot more pricey than the Yaheetech cage but well worth the price IMO.

The bar spacing in that cage looks to be 1 inch spacing which rats can fit through. Rats should have no more than 1/2 bar spacing. You could get that cage and put hardware cloth around the outside to make the bar spacing smaller so that they can’t escape. I’ll leave a link to a video on how to do it. I’ll also leave a link on proper rat cage requirements.

If you do get that cage, make sure to cover the mesh floor and shelves with either fleece, cardboard, newspaper, blanket, a bath mat, a concrete mixing tub for the bottom or the plastic base pan that comes with it, or something else. Not a towel because if they eat it it can harm their insides. If you don’t cover the floor and shelves, they can get bumblefoot. I hope this helped! 💛
