Cage swapping

Recently re-homed 2 males,,have done the meeting with my resident rat,,,things seem to be smoothly,(all done on nuetral ground) I wonder is cage swapping a good idea? the resident can be very laid back,, the new guys are very curious,,, can the boys feel threatened being in the other cage? any idea how the resident takes to the cage swap?
