Ok when ever i think of getting a new pet this always happens to me. I have to find out everything and make everything perfect. But i like that im that way.
Anyways im here to ask about cages i know it should be a wired cage but could you please post pics of some cages? Should it have levels? how many? One question i have is how big should the spaces be inbetween the wires? I dont want a rat to get out of his cage lol

Thanks, Austin :D

This is my cage http://ratforum.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=4232.html

there are tons of pictures of cages in the rat homes section. What size cage you should get depends on how many rats and wire spacing can depend on boys vs girls.

Edit: EEEK! My photobucket was eaten... I think I fixed it though... I wondered why no one was commenting...

glindella, I don't see your pictures anymore either.

I have the same cage as her, though, so here is my cage:

(Her cage looks nicer though)

Many of us feel that the Ferret Nation is the best cage for rats. A lot of people also get Martin's cages (http://www.martinscages.com/products/cages/rat/) Make sure you get it powder coated, and many people recommend a flip-top too if you'd like that.

To answer your questions more specifically, yes it should have levels (rats love to climb), though different cages have different amounts. The bigger, the better with cages. In between the wire you should have no more than a half inch, I think, but it depends on what kind of rats you get. For example, if you have girls and a ferret nation, you may need to cover the outside in hardware mesh to keep them in. Boys are usually too big to get out though.

In the future, check out the Rat Homes forum first (And also post questions like this in there). You'll find lots of info in there.
