Sorry if this is the wrong place for this question.
But, are they bad for rats? I wasn't planning on having my rats explore the tree at all (my mom does NOT like rat poos) and I'm kinda scared to let them near it due to it being a pine tree.
I was curious as to how bad the trees are for them. Should the rats even be in the same room as the tree? Can they chew on the tree without getting sick?
And, this is kinda of topic, but is it the same for rabbits? My little sister has a rabbit and I wanted to know if it's bad for him before she goes and gives him the extra chunk of trunk to chew on.
Thanks in advance for any answers that may be posted.

honestly, people keep saying that the phenols in pine beddings and such is bad for rat lungs, but then i heard people say that whole pine trees are not bad for them. this must be because the bedding is shredded pine so the phenols are released more, or something, but i really don't know.

i wouldn't do it, but i guess i can't give a valid scientific reason as to why not, so it's up to you and what other people have to say.

and i have no idea about rabbits, sorry.
