Hello, I currently have 5 rat babies. 2 are older and 3 are new additions. My oldest female penny (who is over 2) has been on antibiotics for over a year for a chronic respiratory infection. I have been keeping the infection at bay by giving her her antibiotics daily. Since she is being treated, is the infection still contagious to my younger rats? Penny's cagemate does not have the infection and does not get antibiotics. However, I noticed a small level of porphyrin around one of the babies noses (the babies are being housed in the top level of my double critter nation). My vet never mentioned the possibility of infecting my other rats since her infection was un-treatable and since none of my other rats ever contracted it, I never worried.

Should I be more worried about infecting my poor babies since they are technically in the same cage?

Thanks
Kylee
