Addo's claws are SO SHARP.

I swear they just get sharper and longer. Are you supposed to file them? Or have the vet do it?

His cage, at the moment, has nothing he can file his nails on.. and when he's out and about he's on carpet/bedding etc.

What do you guys do? Do you just leave them?

You can also get some sand paper and if you have any ladders you can glue some bits of sand paper around the steps and that can help. You can also get some of those cement "logs" and make them use them as ladders. I clip my nails but I usually have someone help me unless I have a really mellow rat that will just let me trim hers. I'm sure you can also get them done at the vets office.

I use human toe clipers, I put my fingured over their toe so only what I need to clip is out, ALso you have to watch for the wick, like with dogs & rabbits etc. I'm not sure if they have anything special? I know they do for dogs lol.

Yeah, I have clippers for my dog, but they would be WAY too big for a rat...lol. I was thinking that maybe human clippers for babies would be the best bet, because of the smaller blade...but I will look and see if ther are any small animal nail clippers :)

I have not tried to clip my girls yet, but would love to. They are pretty active so I am thinking I will need some help. When I do try, I will some baby clippers I have here.
For now , I have a nice large rock that I put under the food bowl. The food bowl is a hanging ferret bowl , so they have to actually climb the large rock to get the food. This seems to help a bit with the sharp ends.
