I'm currently on a mission trip with no access to vets, but my little boy Oliver recently has been having some health problems. Long story short- we phoned a vet and also did some extensive googling ( and asking on here :) ) and discovered Ollie has chf. I was wandering if there's anything I can do to make him more comfortable, and also, how long do rats usually live with this? We've already incorporated flax seeds into his diet and moved him to a one story cage instead of two.

In case you want to google, Fortekor is also known as Vetmedin, or Pimobendan.

Furosemide is known as Lasix. This is a diuretic, and will help pull off a lot of that fluid.

These drugs really need to be given under the consult and guidance of a good cardiologist.

Thank you both! I can probably get the medicine- although the cardiologist part I obviously can't do. Would it be okay to administer these on my own?
