Hi, I am a new rattie mom. I was wondering if anyone puts anything on the wire floor of their cages. I have a cage from Martin's, and I have been cutting cardboard to fit the size of the floor. I was thinking that if I was a rat, it would feel nicer to walk across a solid floor than the wire floor. But the girls make so much noise at night ripping up the cardboard. Any suggestions on what else to use? Thanks for helping!!

Hi there! Welcome.

For floors, fleece is a big favorite here. Be sure to pin it down or else they'll pull it up and pee underneath, but when it gets dirty you can just shake it out and pop it in the washing machine for next time. It's a very economical bedding. The only drawback is that fabric bedding is much easier to use if your rats are potty trained. This isn't a hard thing to do, but it does take some work, and a few rats out there never quite get the hang of it at all. I think there's a sticky about it somewhere. If not, there should be...

Be sure to post some pics over in the "meet my rat" section!
