I was wondering if the rats I am planning to get (Just another month and a half!) could be at risk of other disease transferred to them from my other pets. I mean, I think my other pets are healthy and I will keep them away from my rats, but I wasn't sure if anything could be transferred via air or whatever to potentially get my rats sick.

I have hermit crabs, fish, gerbils and dogs which are sometimes or always in the same room as where my rats will be. Can any diseases or sicknesses be spread between them, and if so, what precautions should I take to ensure that my sweeties won't get sick?

I wasn't sure if this should go in the other pet topic areas or in the rat health area, so I apologize if its in the wrong area.

There may be a few things that can probably jump species, I dont think alot but if your current pets are not sick or showing any signs of sickness then it should be perfectly fine to bring in new pets.
