I know that Bucks pee a lot to mark their scent, but why do Does do it? I've heard people say that it's because they are ready to come into heat, but how is that possible when I have seen female rats pee everyday, when they are out playing if they only come into hear every 5 days or so, or whatever it is. (Please correct me if I'm wrong. :D )

I've also heard they are scent marking, but don't do it as often or as much as the Bucks.

Thanks ahead of time!

I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but I think this is how it works.

Both genders will scent mark somewhat. Males will do it more than females and intact genders will do it more than speutered genders. Scent marking isn't to be confused with actual peeing, as scent marking is usually in a much, much smaller volume.

I believe females do go into heat every 5 days or so, but you'll hear a variety of numbers.

females will do it for the very same reason as the males. they are saying that "THIS, this RIGHT here, its MINE" and they can also use their trail to help navigate unfamliar places as they use their sense of smell much more then their sight.

Right. They'll scent mark whenever, heat nonwithstanding. When they're in heat they'll often wiggle their ears, arch their backs, etc.

I'm not aware of any source that would tell you anything in specific...

Why would it matter?
