I’m taking one of my rats Faerie to the vet tomorrow for an inner ear infection (?) . She has terrible balance and keeps rolling over.
I have a really tall cage (DCN) and I’m worried about her falling because she has such terrible balance and they like to sleep on the top level. I took her out and put her in the carrier because I was nervous, is this okay for one night? Or will being alone be worse for her?

It’s a tough one as you have to think of her safety.I don’t think it would of done her harm for one night but she will get depressed if separated from her cage mates.Do you have a one level cage that you would use for hospital visits that you could keep her in with one of her companions she is most bonded too?Good Luck at the vets,inner ear infections can be slow to respond to antibiotics.Also put her in a soft food diet as it can be painful for them to bite down.

Thank you! I put her back in the cage last night. I only have 3 rats, so someone’s going to be alone however I do it… I think I’m going to just put the middle level back into my cage so there isn’t as much vertical space, and fill it with very soft things that are easy to grip. I don’t have many other options… I’m a minor and I’m paying for this vet visit. I’m going to hope Banfield has an opening because they seem to be the cheapest option. I have a few hundred saved up but would like to save most of it for other medical emergencies 😵‍💫 I’m willing to spend money on her, though. This is what I want the money to go towards. Wish me luck!
