So my rat cage is near the curtains ( My mistake i admit ) bur they started chewing the curtains does this mean i need chews? Or are they stressed or is this something medical?!

This happened to me with my first rats ..... It was a really tidy square nibble all around the corner where the cage was to be fair lol. Never leave anything within a good 5 inches of the cage, yes at least five inches, learnt that the hard way too! It's also better for air circulation for their cage as well. Won't matter what you put in the cage, they will chew what they are not supposed to. Keep an eye on them if you let them out around the house, the back of your sofa will easily become a gateway of their secret hiding place. 😄

Yeah... do not ever leave things that you want to remain unchewed within rat-reaching distance of the cage.
