So my boy Tucker is definetly a triple dilute. His father is Russian blue velveteen with black eyes and his mom is Russian blue head capped with black eyes. Tucker turned out to be Russian dove head capped(not velveteen). His eyes are very interesting though. Iam guessing they are ruby but most times they are black. Is that just the lighting of a room. What color do you think his eyes are... Ruby or black?

Wouldn't a triple dilute have pink eyes, not ruby? In Australia, a pink eyed black based colour like your Russian blue would be champagne. So Russian blue champagne? Im curious to know how your colours work.

Russian Blue (d/d) x Russian Blue (d/d) = Russian Blue.

Russian Dove is caused when Russian Blue also has mink in it (a/a d/d m/m). Their eyes can be either black or ruby from what I know. (the ones with ruby eyes being a bit lighter in fur color). So that would mean that his parents were also het mink.

Triple Dilute is typically the word used when a rat has 2 or more color modifiers (in this case, say Russian Blue and Mink) + pink eyes. So in that example (a/a d/d m/m p/p).

Triple dilutes can technically have ruby eyes, but typically that's when they have 3 or more color modifiers. (So Russian Blue, Regular Blue, and Mink - d/d g/g m/m), but most of those colors already have names to them.

Btw, sorry if that was way more genetic information than you wanted to know :) Mind getting a picture of him?

Wubbz - Our colors basically work the same. We just have a few different fur types and more color modifiers. So yes pink eye on black would make champagne, same for Russian Blue Champagne. Only difference with that is over here pink eye dilutes are really rare, even albinos are rare is some parts of the country, including here in Texas. (and I love albinos and pink eyed rats).
