Hi there!
so I’m upgraded my ratties cage (4 males and a female) they range in age from 5/6 months down to 3/4 months. All of them fairly large in size (little fatties)
The current cages are two full cheeks climb up’s. Decent cages but my ratties are super active.
id loveeee a critter nation but can’t afford one. But did find the ferret nation on sale and the pervue cage on sale. I was wondering who uses what, what your thoughts are on either and possible set up ideas!
thanks in advance.

Both of the ferret cages have a wider spacing between the bars and young rats (and even smaller adults) can squeeze between them to escape. Personally, I think it's a good idea to always get a cage with a bar spacing no wider than 1/2".

You can cover a ferret cage with a 1/2" welded wire mesh hardware cloth to prevent escapes but it's definitely an added expense, unsightly, and makes a cage more difficult to clean.

edit I'm seeing that the Full Cheeks Climb Up cage also has a 1" bar spacing and if it's working out for your current rats, either the Ferret Nation or the Feisty Ferret should be okay. That said, if you get new juvenile rats in the future, they'll be able to escape.

They look similar in pictures but the Ferret Nation is much, much larger than the Feisty Ferret cage.

I have been trying to find the bar spacing for the current cages and couldn’t so I appreciate that greatly! I guess I overlooked it somehow. I think I’ll go with the ferret nation. Having those big doors will be so much nicer than what I deal with now lol. Thank you for your reply 🙂
