ok this is prob gonna be reli noobish but i dont know much. would this cage be ok to keep baby rats and adultus (not at same tine). thnx

The bar spacing is too wide for baby rats and some female adult rats (Only one in my five can get out). The solution, however, is just to cover it with some hardware mesh that you get at Lowe's or Home Depot. Ideally you want the hardware mesh that is covered in pvc/vinyl/plastic.

Instead of going through the trouble of modifying a ferret nation cage i can recommend the ferplast "jenny" cage , it has narrow spacings so babys wont escape and plenty of tubes and shelves to keep your rats happy , only watch that if you have babies they cant fall off the shelf! Link follows...
