a) Make sure the one you choose is powder-coated.

b) A wood grate (as on the second cage) will REEK very quickly. You'll need to cover that, or better yet, get a cage with a plastic pan. Plastic is *really* easy to clean.

c) The bigger the opening, the easier it will be to clean.

Otherwise, those are all a very nice size for 2 rats.

Well those cages look ok but many people on here have told me how galvanized wire absorbs urine and gets very stinky after a while....I'm not sure what the dimensions on the second one are but I think you should go with the Martin's R-690-it should fit 2 boys nice! Just make sure to get the cage powder coated.

I also suggest finding a ferret cage with close spaced wire.
