I just moved some stuff around in my cage. I also wanted to show it to see if there is anything i should add or change. I have 3 ratties. I’m getting the second layer of the cage for Christmas.

It looks good! I'm sure they'll love having the extra space though their cage isn't exactly tiny at the moment! If you wanted any inspiration or ideas for it, getting some rope might be a lot of fun for them, possibly some more cheap baskets to attach to the sides as well, though it looks fine currently!

The only thing I would say is that the wheel looks quite small; I think of people say that 11" for girls and 12" for boys; though personally I use a 14" wheel for my girls and I don't know if I would go smaller. I also recommend using a metal wheel for rats as they're very good at destroying plastic haha.

In all good job though!! I really like it so far :)

Ok! I am planning on getting them a better wheel! Theyre 5mo right now and i got them when they were 3 mo so we just went with a smaller one to start.

For a first cage, it’s seems to be off to a great start! Like mewpixel, I’d recommend something at the sides, maybe a basket, a little bridge or maybe just more hammocks if that works best. You could even have a bridge lead to a basket that has an occasional treat in it.

I have to admit, we need somewhere to start posting photos of our rats in a ‘Where’s Waldo/Wally’ style. Either one of your rats isn’t in the cage, or he’s very good at hiding himself away.

I definitely agree with the reply above, rats love clutter! I usually go to my recycling bin and grab some cardboard boxes for my boys to hide in. I might also suggest a digging box. You can use paper scraps, those craft puff balls, anything really. Sprinkle some treats in it to encourage them foraging. Used dog toys, if you have a dog or a cat, can also be a fine addition to your rat’s cage! It looks great so far!

They make beds out of bits of fleece too, I have mine dragging paper, fleece from the bottom of 5 flights to the top, I tidy cage every night and by morning it’s a tip lol shredded paper everywhere hanging from shelves and bridges, it’s all over the ramps lol I don’t mind , as long as they happy I’m happy 😃
