Fleece Anyone?

I restocked my fleece today and I always get a kick out of the strange looks I get from people when I'm loading up my cart at Walmart.

I only spent about $60, but this will last me for months! Really when you compare the price to traditional bedding, which is about $20 for a large bag, fleece is much more cost effective and a better value. I can re-use most of the floor coverings several times and I can make lots of other things for the girls like hammocks, beds, tunnels, cubes, and toys. That also saves me money since I don't have to buy those things. You can't do that with traditional bedding. Plus, we all know that fleece is better for sensitive respiratory systems.

For anyone out there still using traditional bedding for their rats, you should really consider switching to fleece.

Is that a yard per roll? I have been trying to convince my boyfriend to drive me to Walmart to check out their fleece but we literally have so much fabric that I cannot even convince myself that it warrants a visit. :( But.. I love fleece. It is a little bit of an addiction I think. It is just all so pretty.

The blankets are 50"x60" so I think that's a little bigger than a yard isn't it? Each one costs $2.88 and they do have a lot of colors. I've not been able to find fleece cheaper than that anywhere.
When Joann has their 60% off fleece sale, they are about $4-$5 a yard and 50% off sale price in the remnant bin - so about $2-$3 a yard. I never like the remnant patterns/colors though and these look neat. I already have so much fabric though and my partner says I have to use it up before I buy more haha. It is my money but he keeps me grounded. I over-spend on the rat boys.

Yeah, I've been to Joanns and looked at their fleece. The problem I ran into is that all the colors/patterns that I really liked, were not the cheap ones or on sale. I couldn't justify spending $5-$6 a yard on fleece when I'm getting pretty colors that I like (that are bigger than a yard) for only $2.88.

The picture I showed is just a small sampling of the colors they have available. I just chose those because I've kept a color scheme going in my cage with bright colors of pink, lime, purple, teal, and the coordinating prints, the tye-dye (my favorite) and the white with colorful circles. All the fleece I use coordinates so I think it makes their cage look really nice and cheerful.
