Fleece Bedding Fail

I recently upgraded my two boys' cage to a big Superpet cage that's 24x24x36 and originally started with Carefresh bedding on the bottom pan. After realizing how much is actually needed to fill the bottom and how wasteful having to throw out the bedding each week, I decided to line the bottom of the cage with fleece. What I ended up doing is taking big fleece blanket and cutting it a bit bigger than the base and just setting the cage on top of the blanket so a few inches are sticking out along the outside to keep it in. It seemed to work out great last night, until this morning. When I woke up, I found that they had chewed a big hole in the blanket at one of the corners and were tunneling under the blanket and having a good old time! Any suggestions on another way to line the bottom without them tearing it out again? I had originally thought of velcro but I'm not sure how well it would stick to the fabric and it would take a lot to line the 24x24 base and blanket.

One thing i noticed with mine was if their is any give they will get under it. I put ceramic tiles in the corners to try to keep them out. Also make sure they have a place to hide their food. Mine like hiding them in the corner so i have a box they crawl in and hide their food in. Make sure the box is cardboard all around otherwise they will hide their food under the fleece in the box. Its not 100% but it saves some of my fleece

This may be a shot in the dark but since the fleece is this new thing to them and they are naturally very curious, maybe try putting something else new in there right now (something they can shred) to distract them from the fleece. Also is it thin fleece? I used pieces of fleece material at first and my girls were ripping that up so I went to the goodwill and got baby blankets. I use a more absorbent blanket on the bottom with the fleece blanket on top of it, they seem to bother with the thicker stuff a lot less. Hope this can help!

The fleece I used was fairly thick, it was an old blanket we had laying around unused. I had put one of those puppy training pads underneath so their urine would be absorbed. I will try putting something in the corners and see if that will work. Thanks for the suggestion! :)

No matter how you secure it, fleece will always get chewed. What I found is that microfiber towels stick to Velcro. I applied the plastic part of the Velcro to the cage bottom and just put the towel on top. They could never get underneath it. The only time they chewed it is if I placed a house near a corner. They would chew the corner and bring the torn parts into their house as a nest.
