I thought about posting this on the other thread but I decided to begin a new topic, as this information might be useful to another member, and it will be easier to find under this topic!

Soo...As I mentioned in the "any last words?" thread I have officially purchased the Ferret Nation 142 (double model) cage from ferret.com at a rather decent price I think

Anyhoo I'd like advice specific to the Ferret Nation 142.

For those of you who have this cage are there any different toys you can put into it? How is yours set up (have pics?), what bedding to your prefer? How do you have it set up?....and so on!

Also I am going to cover it with hardware cloth...

I've seen people mention painting the h.c. What type of paint should I use?

I've also seen people mention getting the h.c. powder coated.....where might I get this done?

I'd really love to see pictures of everyones FN set up.... so if you have them don't be shy!!!!

I like fleece. It looks nice.

I try to leave it open... they usually gain more boxes/playthings as the week goes on, the stuff that eventually gets nasty.

1. love the pirates! I'll have to figure out what motif i want (it's more for my purposes than the ratties)

2. placing the litter boxes at the end of ramps seems like a great idea. Does this encourage them to use it more frequently?

3. is it easy to attach the fleece around the shelves like that? Does it require sewing or precise cutting?

4. what do you fill your litter boxes with?

I'm getting very excited about the FN cage! I am going to go buy a wodent wheel or a silent spinner, and a few plastic igloos (I'm switching from wood because they smelled horrible!) Actually the wood wasn't too bad until the litter came along. They really crapped it up fast!!

I have a couple sets right now (ducks, paw prints, pirates/skulls and then the towels from before

Yep. They all use it there, for the most part. They weren't too fond of most any other place.

It's cut 30x40 (levels) and 30x20 (shelves). I then trim the shelves back down to size. The levels are just folded under. The shelves are folded under and clipped with binder clips. I put velcro on the fleece and level.

Yeah, I avoid wood as much as possible. Ack.
