I know they are wonderful ferrets but I haven't heard much about keeping rats in them....is it alright? If you have never heard of them here is a site that sells them.
Also here is a GREAT setup that I've seen and I'm inspired by.

HAha, that cage owner is a member of this forum, Night. And yes, that's a massive, monster of a cage...xD

The only problem would be housing small rats. My girls were going to get the FN but Meromi decided to be an escape artist so it went to the boys. they've been just fine in it.

I have a double-level FN and I would suggest getting the double (the 142), it's just cheaper in the long run, if you get the urge to get more babies... :lol:

But yes, if you have girls, or small boys, you'll likely have to wire the whole lot (including the shelf inbetween if you get the double).

Night's cage is amazing isn't it?

Makes me want to get another one just so mine could look kinda like hers. :lol:

Okay so the spacing of the bars is far I'm assuming?

The bar spacing is 1" by 5". All my boys, even the smallest (280 g or so) stay in it, but the smallest may be by choice.
