Helix developed an abcess on his lower belly back in mid Sept,( it is in a very difficult spot to treat , right near his genitals) vet cleaned it and gave drugs to help,it has not been fixed, we thought it was, but now his has a lump, near the place where the abcess was.(oozingfrom the sore) he is going in for surgery, on Tuesday. really concerned,,,he really is a lap rat and a gentle critter, he does not deserve this, lost one rat back in June, don't want t Mammal Hamster Gerbil Rodent Chinchilla o lose him

Helix , home , is eating, drinking. sleeping a lot, may be the medicine, that's alright, , he needs to stay calm , for another day. Vet was happy with surgery, believes she got the dead tissue out,, and Helix does groom the area , but I am amazed how quickly rats start to heal. He is probably wondering why he is not back in the big cage with the 2 boys,, he really is a gentle little giant,,,thanks for your kind words and wishes
