Hi there,

I've not had rats for 4 years but I'm rehoming 3 lovely, big boys next week. One of them however has a head tilt - he's seen the vet, is antibiotic resistant and it doesn't cause him any problems and carries on as normal according to the current owners (breeders) - should I be worried. I am a VN but I'm not sure if this can be common among rats or if anyone had any experience of owning a rat with a head tilt. There are no infections present.

Thanks and hello again :)

head tilt is verry common in rats, and most of the times is because of an inner ear infection. My rat took augmentin and corticosteroids and the tilt gone within 10 days.In many cases though the tilt never goes away, but the rat learns to live with it normaly
