I am about to get my first 2 rats, 2 boys ;D
I have found a great Australian website for a cage (have to go aussie because shipping from America was 200-300 au dollars!)
But I’m having trouble deciding.
This one is awesome, http://www.petsplus.com.au/pet-shop.asp?id=1829
But then I found this one: http://www.petsplus.com.au/pet-shop.asp?id=1829
Which is a bit wider and deeper, (I want to get the biggest cage I can, I would feel bad keeping them in a small one) but the cage spacing is 19mm. Is that too big?
Another consideration if I want lots of room is to get 2 of these http://www.petsplus.com.au/pet-shop.asp?id=731 and connect them (they are too small to get just one) as a few people in the comments have done, which would give a lot of vertical space.

Price isn’t a problem, they are all about the same.
Any thoughts? What do you think rats would prefer? Any advice would be appreciated :) Thanks!

The first / second link appear to be the same... Between the two links (the first and third) I would go with the first. The large door would allow you to hang hammocks and clean the cage easier. Also, the cage in the third link appears to have a wire floor... If this could be removed, you could go with that, but if it cannot be removed, it would be a pain to deal with.

If the conversion calculator i used is correct, the 19mm bar spacing would be too wide except for adult males. I would stick with something closer to half inch spacing, which would allow you to get baby males or females in the future. If you are willing to cover the cage with hardware cloth while the males are small, you may be able to use that cage and then remove the hardware cloth as they get older / larger.
