You may have seen my post last week about the scab I found on my rat. I found much more around his ear area and looked up what that meant, and I'm pretty sure that he has mites! ):
I've never treated a rat for mites before and I'm really freaked out! Is it fatal? How do I get rid of them? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I take an old toothbrush and brush their little faces and necks and shoulders and try to loosen the scabbies off so they will feel better. They act like they don't want it, but I think they secretly love the grooming and attention
Haha, I tried brushing Olive with an old toothbrush once as a way to bond with her, and all she wanted to do was attack it and play tug of war. I let her have it and later found it discarded in the cage with all the bristles bitten off. :ROFLMAO:

Mites?? Yeesh. I'm happy to say none of my boyos have ever been afflicted. I'm so sorry to hear the crawly little vermin even exist, and that they latched onto your children! Just out of curiosity, do you have other domestic animals who could have picked them up from outside? I'm relieved to learn they can be eliminated effectively and fairly easily, but just thinking of the little bastards... Horrible!!

Mites are an extremely common issue. Rats can have mites for long periods of time even if they show no symptoms. Fortunately, treating for mites with kitten or cat Revolution is incredibly easy, safe and effective.

In the US, Revolution can be obtained through your vet. It can potentially be ordered through Australian or Canadian sources without a prescription but it may take upwards of a month to arrive in the mail.

Parasites are on all animals. Sometimes a little, sometimes a lot. Even a dog or cat have at least one flea lol. Even my koi had parasites, fish lice, costia, etc.
It's only a problem when they multiple and cause itching and scratching, which is miserable for the rats and leads to scabs, which can lead to skin infections.
