Ok so I went on a search for food for my ratties! I've decided to make a Suebee's mix, and I was prepared to feed the ratties Innova Senior (as recommended) but when I got to the only store I could find that carries that brand (a whole foods store) they only had Innova Senior Plus, which had about 24% protein.

soooo I looked at wellness dog food (another recommended brand) but they didn't have the puppy chow, and most of it contained 23% protein or higher.

Welp....... you can inagine my frustration at this point. It seemed as though ANY food that has been recommended I don't have access to but I decided to look at some of the other brands of dog food available, and check for protein %, and I THINK I've found a good brand to feed my ratties.

Innova has recently phased out it's original Senior mix to put in effect different blends with different levels of protein and fat.

The food you found sounds good, I was suggested to by many people Nutro Natural Choice Adult Lite( http://www.nutroproducts.com/ncdry-lite.shtml ), which comes pretty cheap. So, either one is fine, I guess. If I'm wrong, anyone, please do correct me. xD

Thank you so much! I knew the protein level was right were it should be. I was concerned about the fat/fiber/ingredients but i'm confident that it's a good product having came from an organic food store.

I was starting to think people don't like ratties around here because of the lack of good food choices.............. but how can that possibly be? :)

I've noticed that around here, too. I've always done the Suebees mix as well, which I don't mind at all, but I wish there were other options for those who might not be willing to go that extra mile...

going the extra mile is one thing spending 30+ $ on one bag of food is another!

It really is a shame that it's so difficult (around here) to give my ratties good food! I think I like this food tho. It seems to be ok for the ratties, and of course they enjoy the grain mix much more than the dog food but they will eat the food when they're hungry and that's what matters I suppose :)

I might stumble upon a different brand that they like better........ who knows? :)
